Happy Fourth!

It's been a looooong day. I got up at 3:50 this morning to drive John to LAX. The drive went smoothly, there was absolutely no traffic, and we made it there in 1.5 hours. The return trip was equally quick, then I climbed back into bed and snoozed until Beth got me out of bed around 11:00. When I have to drive long distances early in the morning, I stay awake by singing, accompanied by either a CD or the soundtrack in my head. In honor of our upcoming trip, I sang Italian opera choruses all the way back to Fallbrook, with a little bit of Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb thrown in for variety.

We just returned about half an hour ago from the fireworks show in Temecula. We met up with the kids' cousins, although that was a little tricky, as AT&T didn't seem to have any coverage in that area. By walking up the street a bit I got enough signal to text Kelsey, so we finally found each other. The fireworks were lovely, but the accompanying music had a few too many country songs for my taste.

Just got an e-mail from John: he has landed safely in Paris. We'll be there with him in two days!
