On the way to our scheduled destination, we stopped at São Francisco Church. No photos allowed, but it was an over-the-top baroque extravaganza inside, with gold leaf everywhere

Next stop was a port wine tour and tasting. Even though I don’t drink, it was interesting to learn about how port is made.

We took a train back to Lisbon (the couples sitting across from us were also from the Bay Area!), then went to a fado club for a very tasty dinner. They played three sets, each with a different singer but the same double bass and two guitar players
